種差別とは、種族に基づく個体への差別や偏見のことを意味し、通常は他の動物よりも人間が優遇される時に使われる言葉で、それは動物の権利や 愛護の文脈でしばしば議論される概念である。この言葉は1970年に哲学者のリチャード・ライダーによって作られたもので、人種差別や性差別といった他の差別形態と類似している。種差別の背景にある考え方は、たとえ他の種が痛みや苦しみを感じることが同等かそれ以上の力を持っていたとしても、人間は他の種よりも自分たちの種の命や利益を重視する傾向があるというものである。種差別は、動物を食用、衣料用、娯楽用に使ったり、動物の愛護や 利害を考慮せずに科学実験を行ったりするなど、さまざまな形で現れている。種差別の概念は、人間が他の動物よりも本質的に優れているという仮定に異議を唱えるものであり、すべての動物の権利と幸福をより考慮することを主張するものである。Not A Shooting Target Practiceは、私たち人間がいかに自然の寛大さを利用する方法を考え出したか、そして合理的に行えば公正な交換が可能であることを集団で思い出すための啓発ポスターである。人間が貪欲になり、所有権を主張するようになると、それを整理するのが難しくなる。あなたの行動が種を犠牲にするべきではない。私たちは種差別を終わらせるべきだ。

 
Speciesism is a form of discrimination or prejudice against individuals based on their species membership, usually favoring humans over other animals. It is a concept that is often discussed in the context of animal rights and welfare. The term was coined by philosopher Richard Ryder in 1970, and it is similar to other forms of discrimination such as racism or sexism. The idea behind speciesism is that humans tend to value the lives and interests of their own species over those of other species, even if the other species have similar or greater capacity for experiencing pain and suffering. Speciesism can manifest in various ways, such as using animals for food, clothing, or entertainment, or conducting scientific experiments on animals without considering their welfare or interests. The concept of speciesism challenges the assumption that humans are inherently superior to other animals, and argues for greater consideration of the rights and welfare of all animals. The (Not A) Shooting Target Practice is a PSA Poster to create a collective recollection about how we, as humans, have figured out ways to take advantage of nature’s generosity and when done reasonably there is a fair exchange. It’s when humans get greedy and assume ownership that it gets tricky to sort out. Your action shouldn’t cost a species. We should end speciesism.
