大野 晶 / 静かな表面の上に

日本人アーティスト・大野晶の作品集。
大野は、現在進行形で取り組んでいるシリーズ「Object for paintings」でよく知られている。最小限に絞り込まれた形態と、微細なニュアンスを含む色調によって構成されるその立体作品は、粘土彫刻によるものである。決して大きくはない彫刻に残された痕跡は、見る者にふと時間を留めて観ることを促す。
その大野が、立体彫刻と並行して取り組んでいるのが、本作品集で取り上げているモノタイプと呼ばれる版表現である。黒インクと、ポストカードサイズほどのガラス板を支持体として制作されるこれらの作品は、簡潔な身振りの連なりをその表面に受け止め、透明性と不透明性、構造と偶発性のあいだを往還する独自の造形言語を生み出している。
本書には、2015年から2025年にかけて制作された約60点の作品を収録し、そのすべてを原寸大で再現。
ブックデザインは、オランダRoma Publicationsのロジャー・ウィレムスが担当。オリジナルの版画と同様に再生紙への印刷を採用し、その独特の透け具合が、ガラスを支持体とする表現とのつながりを感じさせる一冊となっている。
また巻末には、キュレーター・兼平彦太郎による大野晶へのインタビューを掲載。
 
This publication presents the work of Japanese artist Hikari Ono.
Ono is well known for her ongoing series Object for paintings, a body of sculptural works made of clay and composed of rigorously reduced forms and subtly nuanced colors. Though modest in scale, the traces left on the surfaces of these sculptures invite the viewer to pause and linger, momentarily suspending the flow of time.
Alongside her sculptural practice, Ono has also been working in a print-based medium known as monotype, which is the focus of this book. Created using black ink on postcard-sized glass plates as supports, these works register a succession of concise gestures on their surfaces, giving rise to a distinctive visual language that moves back and forth between transparency and opacity, structure and chance.
The book features approximately 60 works produced between 2015 and 2025, all reproduced at actual size.
The book design was undertaken by Roger Willems of Roma Publications. Printed on recycled paper, as with the original prints themselves, the distinctive translucency of the paper evokes a material connection to Ono’s practice of using glass as a support.
An interview with Hikari Ono by curator Hikotaro Kanehira is included at the end of the volume.
