A collection of works by Luo Yang, a photographer based in China and Paris.

In China, the Eight Linghou (born after the 1980s) refers to the first generation born under the one-child policy and raised during Deng Xiaoping's reforms and opening up after the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). This generation grew up with the internet and social media, and was immersed in a consumer society that was completely different from previous generations. Author Lo Yang, born in 1984, is also one of them.

In 2007, at the age of 23, the author released the "Girls" series and became known worldwide. Over the course of 10 years, she followed more than 100 women of her generation, documenting the changes in their bodies and lives, and the subtle transitions into adulthood. In "Girls," the photographer captures young women of the same generation, projecting their emotions, growth and evolution, and their search for identity.

A new series, Youth, launched in 2019, shifts focus to the younger generation born in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Through these members of the Z generation, we will continue to explore the changes in modern China, which has become globalized and developed on a new scale, and will leave photographic traces of these "unconventional characters" in the social context. I am trying.

In "Girls" and "Youth", Ro Yang continues to "record" the young people in their teens and beyond that he meets in his daily life, and through his works, he conveys the "story of youth" across generations. The artist depicts China's emerging youth culture through works that ignore the one-sidedly imposed expectations and stereotypes of past history and culture, and show evidence of the subject's individuality and character. It is a personal chronicle of femininity, gender and identity that reflects the deep and ongoing changes taking place in our society.
