Tokyo-Moscow-Brunnen
Born in Switzerland in 1983 and currently based in Zurich, photographer Yves Star has been active for many years, traveling between Tokyo, the Swiss Alps village of Brunnen, and Moscow. Making friends in each place he travels, and immersing himself in the local culture of skateboarding and snowboarding, he has been creating raw, unadorned portraits of cities for the past 27 years, breaking away from conventional wisdom. Playing with time, miracles and transience, his snapshot-like photographs document the lives and people of these places, their dreams and communities.
Indefinite Album is a three-part series showcasing the artist's photographs from 1996 to the present, with accompanying text by the artist himself, intimately intertwining these fragmentary snapshots with the perspective of a single photographer.
