本書は、BlackMass Publishing のユスフ・ハッサンがアーカイブしてきた、JAZZに関するイメージを集成したZINEである。
マイルス・デイビス、レスター・ボウイ、ウェイン・ショーター、ルイ・アームストロングなど、JAZZを象徴するビッグスターたちの姿を収録し、その圧倒的な存在感とスタイルが、活き活きと立ち上がる。
クールで洗練された佇まいだけでなく、時に垣間見えるユーモアや親しみのある表情も収められており、JAZZミュージシャンたちの多面的な魅力を伝えている。
本作は「リサーチおよび教育のためのプロジェクト」と位置づけられており、単なるアーカイブにとどまらず、イメージ同士の関係性、そしてZINEという形式そのものが生み出す意味の広がりを提示している。
 
本ZINEは、2026年3月13日より開催される TOGA AOYAMA でのポップアップにあわせて、特別に制作された。
 
This zine brings together a collection of jazz-related images archived by Yusuf Hassan of BlackMass Publishing.
Featuring iconic figures such as Miles Davis, Lester Bowie, Wayne Shorter, and Louis Armstrong, the publication captures the commanding presence and distinctive styles that define jazz. Their images emerge vividly, conveying not only a cool and refined demeanor but also moments of humor and warmth, revealing the musicians’ multifaceted appeal.
Positioned as “a project for research and education,” this work goes beyond a simple archive, proposing an expanded field of meaning generated through the relationships between images, as well as through the form of the zine itself.
This zine was specially produced to coincide with the pop-up held at TOGA AOYAMA, opening on March 13, 2026.
