Komachi  Wataru / Golden Sylvia

Japanese artist Wataru Komachi himself sympathized with Support NOTO and sent us a wonderful piece along with a very happy message saying, "I want to help too." This piece will also be donated in its entirety to the disaster area, in accordance with the artist's wishes. This is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Wataru Komachi

After playing in a band, his collage work caught the eye of American actor and film director Dennis Hopper, who added it to his contemporary art collection, which prompted him to begin his career as an artist. Since then, he has expanded his scope of activities overseas, including collaborations with French apparel brand Christophe Lemaire, exhibitions at colette, participation in the exhibition (exposition collections particulieres) at Le Bon Marche Rive Gauche, which Karl Lagerfeld and others participated in, and designing T-shirts for musician BECK's European tour. In Japan, he has also collaborated on a large scale with Matsuya Ginza department store and participated in a charity project with COACH. In recent years, he has been featured in the French fashion magazine "double magazine" for artwork and in the French culture magazine "Congrats magazine". In Japan, he has also worked on stage costume artwork and tour T-shirt designs for ONE OK ROCK, designed SCANDAL's album jacket, and MIAYA serves as creative director. He is actively involved in a wide range of activities, including collaborations with the brand jouetie and HYSTERIC GLAMOUR. Using a variety of techniques including collage, painting and photography, Wataru Komachi's work incorporates words and fashions that suggest the times, as well as cultural and social issues, in a light-hearted and unique way. His works have been highly praised both in Japan and overseas.
