Sergei Sviatchenko / CLOSE UP AND PRIVATE

A collection of works by Sergei Sviatchenko, a Ukrainian-born artist currently based in Denmark. CLOSE UP AND PRIVATE is Sviatchenko's ongoing project, which attempts to capture the essence of modern style through the subtle expressions of individuals. Through small details, it shapes a complex discussion between clothing, fashion and image, offering a new perspective on today's contemporary fashion and identity.

Sergei Sviatchenko (born 1952)

Sviatchenko is one of today's most influential collage artists. His work explores the boundaries between traditional and contemporary visuals, fusing pop culture with politics, history, science, and architecture. Growing up in Ukraine during the 1960s, Svyachenko witnessed the transformation of global society and modern culture. Gorbachev's new opening from Khrushchev's grave, the fall of the Wall, and the revolutionary expansion of the West brought about a new flourishing of pop culture and artistic expression. Sviatchenko's work reflects decades of artistic exploration. From the World Wars to Dadaism, Surrealism, the Soviet avant-garde, Constructivism, and 1960s American Expressionism and pop music to the films of Andrei Tarkovsky. A challenger in the contemporary art world, Sviatchenko's collages and paintings have been exhibited in Denmark, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, France, England, Canada, and the United States, and have been featured in works such as Dazed & Confused, AnOther, Kilimanjaro, and He has been featured in famous magazines such as ``Vroom,'' ``Elephant,'' ``This is a magazine,'' ``Rojo,'' ``Viewpoint,'' and ``Blueprint.''
