Lukas Panek / Inner, Outer, Paintings, Friends
This book plunges us into the rich, lively and playful work of the young artist, presenting a radically new vision of contemporary photography.
A collection of works by Düsseldorf-born Berlin artist Lukas Panek.
An archive of everyday photographs, moments of intimacy, anonymous images from the Internet, and the artist's own work sessions. Through this exploration of the author's playground, we document various representations in today's online culture. Different pieces of information converge to create an ambiguous narrative. In the process, familiar forms of narration are deliberately compromised, leaving the reader immersed and drawn into the flow of images.
The author shows personal moments and in doing so reveals intimate relationships. At the same time, these images acquire a more general validity by aligning themselves with the flow of global images. When we readers see them, they become archetypes of universal experience, that is, our 'basic forms of coexistence'.
Over 500 images are collected in Inner, Outer, Paintings, Friends, and the author's work is introduced in Part 2. The selected works are both extracts of the universal global experience and reflections of the personal world.
This book was produced with the cooperation of the Mook gallery, an art gallery based in Düsseldorf, Germany.
