Hanna Putz and Sophie Thun / White Flag

This is a collection of works born from a collaboration between Vienna and Berlin-based photographers Hanna Putz and Sophie Thun.

This book is built around a game in which two friends, Pats and Tung, film each other for two years, playing each other's roles both behind and in front of the camera. The works are photographed in landscapes, trains, offices, studios, etc., with staged poses and improvisational moments that take place with each other. The title is "White Flag," and when you turn over the cover of "Raising the White Flag," you can see that they are photographing each other. The photos are arranged so that they are facing each other in a double-page spread. Although the word "shoot" is used to describe the act of taking a photograph (it has the meaning of taking a picture, it also means shooting/aiming), but from the sequence of turning the pages, the word "shoot" is gradually directed towards the viewer as well. It gives the impression of an illusory change in the visual object. This collection of works captures the ``proprietary, aggressive media nature'' that photography has always had, while having a light and fun atmosphere.
