Guy Debord & Asger Jorn / Memorias

A classic reissue!!

This is Guy Debord's first book, printed in Copenhagen in 1958, where Asger Jorn was then based, and "distributed only to friends." It remained out of circulation until 1992. Its sandpaper cover (the use of sandpaper on the cover prevents damage to adjacent books), its use of appropriation, its conception, and its form make it a legendary work by two members of the Situationist International.

Composed entirely of "repurposed" existing printed materials (texts, illustrations, comics, etc.) and silkscreen prints of Jorn's action paintings, this book is a kind of autobiography that chronicles the activities of the Letterist International in 1952 and 1953.

This reissue, featuring sandpaper just like the original 1958 edition, features a unique contemporary binding and is limited to 50 copies, published by Argentine publisher Homo faber. The Situationist International has had a profound influence not only on art and design, but also on architecture and other forms of urban development, music including punk, film, and various cultures. This timeless work evokes memories of that passionate era. Reissued in the 1990s and still out of print, "Mémoires" is now back in Argentina, a long-awaited reissue. The translation and epilogue are by poet Bárbara Belloc.

Guy Debord's first book, printed in 1958 in Copenhagen, where Asger Jorn was then, and subsequently 'distributed only to friends'. It was then in a state of non-circulation until 1992. A legendary volume by the Internationale Situationniste duo, unique in its conception and form, with its filet cover and détournement. Composed entirely of 'détournement' of existing printed matter (text, drawings, comics, etc.) and silk-screened patterns of action paintings by Jorn, the book is a kind of autobiography of the Internationale lettriste's activities in 1952 and 1953.

For this reissue, the Argentine publisher Homo faber has issued only a limited edition of 50 in a contemporary and original binding, using the sandpaper as it did when the book was first published in 1958. The Internationale Situationniste has since had a profound copies influence not only on art and design, but also on architecture, urban development, punk and other forms of music and various other cultures. The long-awaited reissue in Argentina of Mémoires, which has been out of print since its re-release in the 1990s. Translation and epilogue by poet Bárbara Belloc.
