フランスを拠点に活動するヴィジュアルアーティスト、オードリー・ボルジャによる作品集『Jan d’Arle（ジャン・ダルル）』。
本作は、カマルグ——とりわけローヌ川のデルタ地帯における「風」という主題を探求するプロジェクトである。塩、海、風、そしてそれらの気まぐれによって形づくられた土地が、ひとつの舞台として提示されている。作者はこの地域における風の遍在性に強く心を打たれ、それを写真によって表現しようと試みた。白い布をまとった人物の姿として風を象徴化し、その動きを海辺に沿って追っている。
そのアプローチは、現実とフィクションを交錯させるものであり、風のある種のアーカイブを生成すると同時に、アーティファクトという概念を探るものでもある。本書においては、風そのもののように移動し、イメージからイメージへとさまよいながら、空白やフレーム外、コマとコマのあいだに身を委ねることが志向されている。書物はひとつの呼吸の空間となり、運動が通過していく場として立ち上がる。そこでは、このシルエットが徐々に消え去り、風と融合していく過程が辿られ、やがて風景そのものが彼女に代わって呼吸しているかのように感じられる。
フレデリック・ミストラルが想像した、風の化身ジャン・ダルルの人物像を引き継ぎながら、オードリー・ボルジャは、風そのものを可視化するという試みに、豊かな詩情をもって挑んでいる。
 
A photobook by French-based visual artist Audrey Borja.
This work explores the theme of “wind” in the Camargue—particularly in the Rhône delta. Shaped by salt, sea, wind, and their capricious forces, the landscape is presented as a stage. Struck by the omnipresence of the wind in this region, the artist attempts to render it through photography. She symbolizes the wind as a human figure draped in white, following its movement along the shoreline.
Her approach intertwines reality and fiction, creating a kind of archive of the wind while also engaging with the notion of the artifact. Within the book, there is an intention to move like the wind itself—to drift from image to image, surrendering to emptiness, off-frame spaces, and the intervals between sequences. The book becomes a space of breath, a site traversed by movement. Through it, we follow the gradual disappearance of this silhouette as it merges with the wind, until the landscape itself seems to breathe in its place.
Drawing on the figure of Jan d’Arle—the embodiment of the wind imagined by Frédéric Mistral—Audrey Borja takes on the challenge of making the wind visible, with a profound sense of poetry.
