Manila Books & Gift
(Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya City)
A specialty store that mainly handles imported zines, art books, and artist goods. Also, the publishing department Manila Press started last year! Through the production of zines, we support the activities of local artists. As a side note, the shop owner has no connection to Manila, the capital of the Philippines. I decided on the store name just for fun. This shop is run by such a laid-back owner.
Yorozuya Tsuchigumo
(Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture)
I'm a Yorozuya who spends every day doing free research, doing field work with guardian dogs in the mountains of the Hida region, making guardian dog goods, electrical work, metal fitting, and occasionally taking photos and writing.
Koshina
(Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture)
After working as a caregiver for 10 years, I started running a kitchen truck. As I interacted with patients through nursing care, I realized that the time of constant happiness in life is when I eat. That's how we started a mobile store. We mainly sell sandwiches. I am making it while thinking about the balance so that it will be as good as possible.
IACK
(Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture)
Established in 2017 as the atelier of photographer Yukito Kono. Afterwards, it opened to the public on weekends under the concept of an "open study." With the mission of exploring contemporary photographic expression, communicating and disseminating the appeal of collections of works as a culture in a broad sense, and exploring the possibilities of archiving for the future, the gallery holds special exhibitions and exhibits both domestically and internationally, focusing on contemporary photography. We will exhibit/sell/distribute a collection of his works.
CYRO

2020 A very small free space newly added to a corner of the salon in Nomi City, Ishikawa Prefecture We are gradually handling works such as artbook photobook print. We explore freedom and independence within society, culture, community, and environment, and their beautiful expression. We are active in this area.

Talk event
Open the page and look at a corner of the world Art Book Roundtable
Art books have been expanding and gaining popularity worldwide since the 2000s. His expressions are not limited to photography and painting, but include sculpture, architecture, crafts, etc., and continue to be updated in diversified forms. Art books serve as inspiration and information gathering for people who want to express themselves, and their popularity is expanding as more and more readers enjoy them at cafes or at home as an ``appreciation'' activity, much like watching a movie or listening to music. Masu. A contemporary artist once said, ``Contemporary art is not a form, but a philosophy in society.'' Then, isn't looking at art books these days looking at the society we live in? ? When you hear about art, you think, ``It seems a little difficult...'' but when you hear about society, it's about things that are very familiar to you, such as towns, workplaces, schools, etc.! In the first place, ``expression'', including art, was created by people who are active in society, just like us. In this talk event, we will invite 5 groups including people from overseas who work with art books to have a roundtable discussion. One of the charms and fun of art books is that while viewing them, you can connect with society and people you don't know, thinking, ``Is this kind of expression and world spreading in places you don't know?'' While listening to these stories, we take a look at a corner of the world through photography and art.
And what can we see by looking at art books in Hida, where we live?
By the time the talk event is over, you might see the world a little more broadly than you do now! ! ? ! This is the first time in Hida Takayama that we have had the opportunity to see such a large collection of art books all at once, including those who were interested but never had the chance to pick them up, and those who love looking at art books. maybe? ? After the talk event ends, you can view the book directly at the venue.
Please participate.
